Responsibilities:

  • Created the technical roadmap for WaMu Home Loans to transition from its legacy systems to modern, web-based systems for sales and fulfillment.
  • Planned and managed the technical delivery for multiple large scale projects involving a diverse array of platforms and technologies. The projects spanned over two years with a budget in excess of $100 million.
  • Delivered multiple mission critical systems into production, and managed the transition to an operational model along with regular enhancement releases.
  • Led a cross-discipline team of over 300 resources spread across the US and India. Included oversight of project management, application development, data development, infrastructure delivery and testing.
  • Oversaw project and operating budgets, and instituted processes to ensure financial compliance and health.
  • Negotiated and managed contracts for the acquisition of software and professional services.
  • Managed relationships with technology vendors, service providers and outsourcers.

Major Accomplishment:

Successfully implemented new core systems to WaMu’s entire Home Loans organization. These systems met all key performance indicators, improved data integrity, significantly reduced the operating budget, and improved customer communication. Implementing these systems moved WaMu from being technology challenged to being an industry leader.

Technology Development Manager April 2004 – May 2006

Responsibilities:

  • Developed the application strategy for the origination and fulfillment of mortgage loans for Home Loans Wholesale and Long Beach Mortgage.
  • Managed the technology teams through delivery of several large scale application development projects. The projects spanned over two years with a budget in excess of $30 million.
  • Coordinated the integration of many disparate systems to fully incorporate new systems into the enterprise.
  • Managed delivery of software and services from a wide range of vendors.
  • Established release planning and delivery processes for production systems to meet business needs as well as satisfy audit and compliance requirements.
  • Established procedures to support the production and non-production use of all applications.
  • Ensured the development and maintenance of applications met enterprise standards and procedures.

Major Accomplishment:

Successfully delivered a new Broker Point of Sale website and Loan Origination System to Long Beach Mortgage. As the first technology person on the project, I oversaw the planning and implementation of these applications from requirements gathering and vendor selection to deployment into production.

  • Led the technology team for many intermediate sized projects.
  • Designed new system architectures integrating a web interface, J2EE application server, workflow engine, business rule engine, messaging middleware, web services and xml technologies.

  • Evaluated vendors and technologies, and achieved executive approval on final recommendations.
  • Defined functional roles within the mortgage origination system based on duties, risks, technical limitations, user efficiency and system performance.
  • Evaluated performance and stability of the production environment, and designed and implemented improvements.
  • Known as a problem solver and was regularly assigned the most difficult and complex projects.

Major Accomplishment:

Designed new J2EE architecture to replace existing, insufficient mortgage origination system in a piece-by-piece fashion, and designed a final architecture suitable to replace the entire application. Led many successful projects through inception, requirements gathering, functional and technical design, implementation, testing, deployment and support.
